I am having a daughter on July 30th and my FSA plan starts new on August 1. I have already exhausted the funds for this current year of elections - can I use the new elections to cover the expenses for the birth of my daughter even though it will technically start before the 1st. Note - I will definitely receive a bill after teh first - not sure if this means anything. Please let me know. Thanks.

Can services that occur in prior year be paid for with current years elections?

Hello Dallas,
Unfortunately you cannot use current plan year funds for previous plan year services. Even though the bill will not come until after the first, it is the date of service that is looked at when using your flex account.

Since the procedure will span from the 30th - through the 1st will any of it be re-imburseable?

Yes. You can use your flex account to pay for any services done on or after the first. Just make sure they give you a breakdown of what was charged on each day so you know how much to claim.
